Fresh Baby Grows Up, Babies Grow Healthy
- Success in the sophomore year -

October 18, 2004 (Petoskey, MI): Coming off of a successful first year, Fresh Baby's (www.freshbaby.com) second year achievements signal a formula for success. Reminiscent of Diane Keaton's role in "Baby Boom", the company is the inspiration of two sisters with five children between them. Joan Ahlers and Cheryl Tallman live in rural parts of America, thousands of miles apart. In raising their children, they could not identify all-natural alternatives for healthy and hassle-free feeding. Drawing upon their own concerns as parents, the two women began developing products for today's busy parents and caregivers with a product line that includes: homemade baby food kits, baby food cookbooks, baby food and breast milk storage trays, breastfeeding reminders, and child development diaries.

In the last two years, Fresh Baby has leveraged the ever-increasing consumer interest in natural living and provides preventive measures -- in contrast to the onslaught of cure tactics -- to curb the childhood obesity epidemic plaguing the nation. Through the development of products that encourage breastfeeding and developing children's healthy eating habits, Fresh Baby is helping parents respond to this healthcare crisis.

Healthy help is here -- registers are ringing, parents are cheering! The facts are disturbing. One in six children attending school today are obese. The number of obese preschoolers has doubled in the last 3 decades and 30-40% of these children are now at risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. More alarming still, a staggering 80% of overweight children will grow up to be obese adults. Tallman and Ahlers believe one of the keys to solving this healthcare crisis lies with parents.

With research concluding that children's eating preferences are established by age 3, it is clear that parents play a crucial role in getting their children off to the right start. Fresh Baby was founded on the belief that all parents want to raise healthy children, but when it comes to healthy eating habits, they lack the tools, skills, and knowledge needed to be effective. Fresh Baby's 300% increase in sales is proof that this combination of philosophy, and development of practical, easy-to-use products, is right on target.

"We know that parents recognize the importance of their influential role. We constantly receive e-mails thanking us for our products and for making it easier to raise healthy children. We are proud to be making a difference with these families." says Tallman, President of Fresh Baby

Fresh Baby's commitment to equipping parents goes beyond products sales. Their monthly newsletter, Fresh Ideas, is completely free and packed with original recipes, tips, and information on healthy eating for the whole family. A testament to its popularity, subscriptions to Fresh Ideas have soared by 3000% since the initial issue in February 2003.

Retailers around the world recognize the value of Fresh Baby products. In addition to juvenile and natural products stores, Fresh Baby now boasts book retailers as a major distribution channel. Earlier this year, Fresh Baby signed a distribution deal with Biblio, the nation's largest independent book distributor. This relationship is netting big results, adding Borders Bookstores to Fresh Baby's retailer roster.

Moreover, with products now available in over 500 stores, Fresh Baby's retailer list has expanded to include some of the largest and most respected brands in the industry. Stores including Whole Foods Market, Earth Fare, One Step Ahead and The Right Start have cleared shelf space for Fresh Baby products. And expansion into Canada was recently sealed in a distributor relationship with Grobag Canada LTD., a leading juvenile products distributor in Canada, The UK, Asia and Australia.

"Our goal is to be everywhere a consumer searches for tools, support, and information on healthy eating for their children. Our retail partners are providing parents with real solutions for dealing with a real issue. We love it that they have selected Fresh Baby as one these solutions." says Director of Sales, Joan Ahlers.

Fresh Baby Buzz extends across press, professionals and parenting authorities. Fresh Baby's media coverage has included major news, parenting and lifestyle publications including The Boston Globe, Fit Pregnancy, Entrepreneur Magazine and Organic Style. Further, the broadcast media including ABC's Satellite Sisters, talk radio programs, television news, and NBC-Universal's Home Delivery, have tapped into Fresh Baby's expertise. As authors and inventors, Tallman and Ahlers know that credibility is crucial to Fresh Baby's success. It's clear the media approves of their message and the resulting coverage has reached millions of consumers.

Equally important to reaching consumers through the media is reaching them through healthcare professionals - trusted advisors for most families. The overwhelming success and growth of their healthcare professional program reaches hundreds of hospitals and private practices.

August marked an especially notable achievement when Dr. Alan Greene MD FAAP, the highly regarded parenting authority featured Fresh Baby's products in his groundbreaking book, From First Kicks to First Steps. (McGraw-Hill) According to Dr. Greene, "Of course, making your own baby food can take time. Cheryl Tallman and Joan Ahlers, a pair of moms, created Fresh Baby, a time-saving kit with dozens of simple, healthy recipes for quick, tasty homemade meals for babies. They joke about their friends calling them super moms, because their secret was that they found a way to cook all of their meals for their babies in only 30 extra minutes per week."

Additionally, Fresh Baby has been honored with an iParenting Media Award, praised by Stanford University Nutritionists, and cited as a "Hot Business for 2004" by Entrepreneur Magazine for their work in the obesity market.
